This article is about how to feed the Angel Fish, one of a popular fish in feeders’ hearts around the world. In this article, introduction of Angel Fish, species identity, tips of each species, and how to raise and grow Angel fish are indicated.  

    There are many beautiful fresh-water fishes which are called through their origin, as well as a flat fresh-water fish, which are used to detect the toxic in mine. If it is survived, human beings can survive too although it is forced by human beings. It is outstanding that hundred, thousand of human beings from the past can survive because of this fish. From this cause, this fish is called “Angel Fish”. However, because of its beautiful, unique from their smooth, and strength swimming poses, since the beginning of raising the Angel Fish in Europe, This lovely fish is spread out worldwide. Because of their individual charm, Fish lovers around the world fall in love with them and they are one of popular fish until nowadays.

The Angel fish is categorized in Pterophyllum Family, same as Cichlidae, as well as Pompadours, but their shape is alike triangle like a kite, flat body, and high back fin. The origin of this fish is in South America, around the Amazon River basin and Orinoco River. These two rivers is in Venezuela and Brazil. In nature, this fish like to live in the slow-flow water area and weed for their hiding place. They will find the small natural food around the area such as small aquatic insects, water flea, mosquito larva, plankton, and small animals or small fish too. With their unique appearances, the development is not beautiful for human for sure. Many scientists believe that because of the nature: the Angel Fish live along the bank and flood forest of Amazon River, full with weed, roots, and barriers, their body should be flat and they can pass the small paths easily. Their beautiful fin has no problems with these paths because their fin can cling along their body. But, in the other case, whenever the Angel Fish need to use it, it can be strong. If we imagine to the small fish which their size is alike a bite of bigger fish, brutal hunters living in the same river such as Tiger Fish, Souvelnose, Giant Arapima, or Silver Arowana, and fishes like Angel Fish, but their shapes are rounded and tapering like Tetra, which one will be eaten easier? Most hunter fishes with the flat mouth on the side will see that the Angel Fish might be hard to eat because of their shapes. Then the Angel Fish are rarely eaten. And that is the natural smart and the wonderfulness of the fish in Cichlidae, which can develop their shapes impossibly. Moreover, the down patterns of the fish can be their illusion in water very well.

            Humans who live along the Amazon River might know the Angel Fish for a long time. But, the scientist truth of the old world; the first example of Angel Fish was categorized according to taxonomy in Berlin, Germany in the name of Zeus scalare in 1823 from an old dead fish. Almost 100 years later, European people coud see the alive Angel Fish for the first time. In 1911, the fish was discovered in Germany and America later. About the name’s history, the Angel Fish is interested by all-age ichthyology. The family was changed into Platex first and end by Johann Jaccob Heckel, Austrian ichthyology had created the new family to Pterophyllum, Italian language means leaf-shape fin, and the family name was used until present.

            In nature, we can see 3-4 main species of Angel Fish. These are Pterohyllum scalare , Pterohyllum altum , Pterohyllum leopoldi, and Pterohphyllum dumerilli, which some parts of their bodies such as head will be different. The most popular Angel Fish, mostly, was developed from Pterohyllum scalare. The details of each species are indicated below.
