Fish Data : Leopard Danio

Leopard Danio

Family Name: Cyprinidae (carp family)
Genus Name: Danio (danio = probably a native name)
Species Name: frankei (after someone named Frank)
Common Name: leopard danio
Size : 2.5 Inches ( About 6.35 cm )
Aquarium Hardiness : Very Hardy
Aquarist Experience Level : Beginner

Descriptions :
Danios are one of the most common aquarium fishes. These small fish are great for a community tank and are not fussy about either food or water conditions. All danios are schooling fish and because they are in constant motion, a school of them makes an impressive sight. In addition to being hardy, inexpensive, and easy to keep, they are also prolific egglayers.
This fish is easily distinguished from the zebra danio by its color pattern. Leopard danios have a brassy gold coloration covered with a large number of small irregularly shaped, dark-blue or black spots. This is very different than the four horizontal stripes which identify the zebra danio. All danios possess two pairs of barbels. However, these are next to impossible to see because during the day they are held close to the face. Only at night are these barbels held away from the body, presumably to aid the fish in maneuvering.

Tank Setup & Care :
  • Minimum Tank Size: 10 gal (38 L)
  • Substrate Type: Any
  • Lighting Needs: Moderate - normal lighting
  • Temperature: 64.0 - 75.0° F (17.8 - 23.9° C)
  • Range ph: 6.0-8.0
  • Hardness Range: 2 - 20 dGH
  • Brackish: No
  • Water Movement: Moderate
  • Water Region: All - The Leopard Danio and the Longfin Leopard Danio will spend most of their time primarily in the upper region of the aquarium, particularly if there is open water or water current.
  • Water Changes: Monthly
Foods and Feeding :
The Leopard danio are omnivorous fish. A balanced diet for them would include flake or pelleted foods, plant based food, and occasional live. ,These fish are quite active and have high nutrient requirements, so select a flake food that will provide everything that their needs.

  • Diet Type: Omnivore
  • Flake Food: Yes
  • Tablet Pellet: Yes
  • Live foods (fishes, shrimps, worms): Some of Diet
  • Vegetable Food: Some of Diet
  • Meaty Food: Some of Diet
  • Feeding Frequency: Several feedings per day
Tank Mate :

This fish should be housed with other peaceful fish. Exp. Cherry Barb,Rosy Barb, ETC. Leopard Danios can be fin-nippers if not kept in proper shoal and should therefore be kept in groups of 5 or more.

Don't keep them with fish that can eat them or fish that demand a peaceful aquarium. Also, those with long flowing fins are a temptation too great for any fin nipper to resist, so pick other tank mates carefully.
  • Venomous: No
  • Temperament: Peaceful - Although a peaceful fish, there is often a clear pecking order in the school. This fish is easily combined with other community fish so long as the others are tolerant of the fast swimming and highly active Leopard Danio
Leopard Danio ML
  • Compatible with:
    • Same species - conspecifics: Yes
    • Peaceful fish (): Safe - These are a very lively fish so pick tankmates that will not be bothered by it.
    • Semi-Aggressive: (): Threat
    • Shrimps, Crabs, Snails: Safe - not aggressive
  • Sex differences :
The Males Leopard Danio are more streamlined and slim in body shape, while mature females are plumper.

    Breeding / Reproduction
The Leopard Danio is one of the easiest egg-scatterers to breed. Because water condition is not really an issue to keep and breed this fish, 4 or 5 inches of tap water can be used in a 10 gallons tank. Plastic plants and a sponge filter will do just great. Adding a heater is not required but the hatching process will go faster (approximately 24 hours) if water is kept at 79F. The breeding tank will also have a few layers of marbles in the bottom for the eggs to fall into as soon as the female releases them. A net can also be used. Another technique uses thin plants to breed this species. Anyway, whatever methods are being used, the point is to keep the parents away from their eggs. Danio Frankei and all Danio species in general are avid egg-eaters. A tank cover is always a must when keeping Danios.

Males and females can be conditioned separately for 2 weeks. Feed them heavily on live food (bloodworms). Females will become a lot rounder after the meals. This conditioning period is not required but when the parents are conditioned properly, they usually spawn and fertilize more eggs.
One male and two females should be introduced in the breeding tank in the evening (females are bigger and rounder). Spawning process for this fish is triggered by the morning daylight in this species. For this reason it is important to set up the breeding tank near a source of daylight (window). It is usually the female who attract the male in the spawning parade. They start rubbing and picking at their sides.

  •     When the female Leopard Danio releases her eggs, they are fertilized by the male. As much as 400 eggs can be released but usually less than a 100 (not as prolific as Brachydanio Rerio). The non-adhesive eggs fall between the marbles away from the hungry parents. At this point, the parents must be removed from the tank. The eggs hatch after 24 to 48 hours. Fry should be fed infusoria as their first food. When they become big enough, start feeding them baby brine shrimps then regular fish foods. The fry become mature after five months

Fish Data : Tinfoil Barb

File:Tinfoil barbs 01.jpg

Scientific Name: Barbus schwanefeldi
Natural Habitat: Rivers in Thailand and Sumatra
Common Names: Tinfoil Barb, River Barb.
Beginner Fish: No. Tinfoil Barb needs a large aquarium.
Adult Size: 13 inches.
Life Span: 8-10 years.
Tank Size: 75+ gallon tank.
Tank Region: Middle to top.
Water Temperature: 75°F – 80°F
Water pH: 6 – 7.5

“Tinfoil” refers to the metallic sheen of their scales.  “Barb” refers to the two sets of barbels that grow from their mouths.  Originally called red-tail tinfoil barbs because of their red tail and red fins.

The Tinfoil Barb is imported in several other varieties as well. These include the familiar albino color form along with a glass variety. There are also blue, pink, purple, and orange color forms. Sometimes a specimen may be further destinguished as having a red or yellow tail, having black eyes, or a combination of these traits.
The Tinfoil barb is a schooling species. You can keep at least 5 specimens together. By keeping a group of Tinfoil barbs you will make the fishes much less stressed in the aquarium and you will also be able to enjoy a much broader range of natural behaviours. Shoaling Tinfoil barbs are highly active and entertaining. They spend most of their time between the bottom and the mid-level of the aquarium. This fish are peaceful creatures and can be housed with other peaceful fish species.

Aquarium Setup
Minimum Tank Size: This fish is very active and requires plenty of space to swim. A tank with dimensions of 60" x 24" x 24"/150cm x 60cm x 60cm/566 L should be the minimum size considered to house a group.
  • Brackish: No
  • Water Movement: Strong
  • Water Region: All
  • Substrate Type: Any
  • Lighting Needs: Moderate - normal lighting
  • Temperature: 72.0 - 77.0° F (22.2 - 25.0° C)
  • Range ph: 6.5-7.5
  • Water Change : 1 Time per month
Tank Mate :

The Tinfoil barb can be housed together with peaceful fish species of similar size or bigger. If you have a really large aquarium, you can for instance keep a group of Tinfoil barbs together with many large Cichlids, such as the Oscar fish , Midas Cichlid . Tinfoil barbs are also frequently kept together with shy and jittery fish species, since a calm Tinfoil barb group will make less tranquil fish species feel much more relaxed in the aquarium and encourage them to spend more time out in the open instead of staying hidden. Tinfoil barbs feed are chiefly herbivores, but should not be kept with crustaceans and small fishes since they can be considered food.

Picture of Tinfoil barbs

Feeding :

This Fish is omnivorous and something of an opportunist; wild fish have been observed feeding on invertebrates, algae, smaller fish, plant matter both aquatic and terrestrial and even organic detritus from human settlements. In the aquarium, The Tinfoil Barb just as easily-fed and will greedily accept just about anything offered. For it to develop its best colours and condition offer regular meals of small live and frozen foods such as bloodworm, Daphnia and Artemia along with good quality dried flakes, granules and plenty of vegetable matter. Shelled peas, blanched courgette, spinach and chopped fruit all make good additions to the menu. Larger specimens will also take chopped earthworm, prawn etc.

Sex Different :

Mature Tinfoil Barb females are usually deeper-bodied than males especially when in spawning condition. Otherwise there are no obvious external differences.

Breeding / Reproduction

This fish is a typical egg scatterer, the logistics of breeding a fish of this size is generally a deterence to most aquarists.

The female Tinfoil barb can produce several thousand eggs per spawning. Sexing Tinfoil barbs is a bit tricky, since there are no obvious difference between males and females.

When Tinfoil barbs grow so large, they are not easy to breed in captivity. According to unverified sources, a public aquarium has managed to breed Tinfoil barbs in captivity at least once, but as of 2006, no public aquarium has published any details regarding how to breed Tinfoil barbs. If you want to go about breeding Tinfoil barbs, you will need an outdoor aquaculture in a tropical climate or a really big aquarium.

Since the Tinfoil barbs are egg scatterers, they will not care for their eggs. Chances are high that they will eat egg and/or fry if kept together in the same aquarium. If you plan to breed Tinfoil barbs, it can therefore be a good idea to arrange a separate breeding aquarium where the offspring can be raised without the presence of adult fish. If you instead want to let the offspring stay together with the adult fish in the large aquarium, you can promote a higher fry survival by including a lot of plants in the set up. Java moss will for instance produce plenty of hiding spots for young Tinfoil barbs since Java moss produce and abundance of bushy leaves. Tinfoil barb fry will instinctively seek shelter and try to stay away from adult fish in the aquarium, just like they would do in the wild.

My Selling E-Books : Red Bee Shrimp Feeding Guide for Beginners

This article is about feeding one of Dwarf Shrimp which is famous in many countries and having lots of sensitive feeding; Red Bee Dwarf Shrimp. In this article would saying about Red Bee Shrimp’s origin and possibilities, basically feeding, necessary equipments of feeding, types, and some techniques of feeding this shrimp.

This is a sample of this article :

In the past, maybe there was no one thought about tiny freshwater shrimps; Dwarf Shrimps, could be lived-art and expensive than anyone could think about. Although in the present time, if saying about it with non-interested people or not-knowing about feeding Dwarf Shrimps people, perhaps they would not know about a type of shrimp which is developed by infatuated feeders could extremely costly at this time, and also could be in the future.

The Red Bee Shrimp is originated by skill, creativity, and tolerance of Mr.Hisayasu Suzuki who had been tried to use original shrimp; Caridina Serrata, which is mostly found in South China’s canals. Appearance of these shrimp is short trunk with dark brown, black, and black glossy blue. Color is faded white and clear internodes at end-head, rostrum, middle trunk and some at tail tip. Mr.Hisayasu bred these dwarf shrimps with inbreed method which thousands of shrimp were used. More than 6 years of spending found Bee Shrimp which is red trunk variegates clear internodes; caused name of Crystal Red Shrimp. The Dwarf Shrimps are prototype of species development for few years. After that outer skinned while shrimps are created with widely white until all white. Standardized grading shrimp depends on white density on outer skin, redness of red segment, and also different colors of blue, dark blue, glossy dark brown or black. Nowadays Dwarf Red Bee Shrimp has various developing species and cost since few dollars to hundreds. However, property does not only one factor of feeding Red Bee Shrimp, because they are very insubstantial from developing species. All makes Red Bee Shrimp is not proper for any chemicals and have to living in quality water with high oxygen. Red Bee Shrimp likes lower acid water; between pH 6.2 – 7.2, and KH or hardness is 3-6 with stability on periods of day. Moreover, feeders should have these fundaments for feeding successful Red Bee Shrimp.

Fish Data : Large-Eyed Mouthbrooder Cichlid ( Callochromis Macrops )

The Large-Eyed Mouthbrooder Callochromis Macrops (previouslyParatilapia macrops) is a very beautiful  cichlid. They has the most distinctive large colorful eyes and that is the one thing that you shouldbe love it . Their body have many beautifully colored, but the coloring is quite variable depending on where its there come from.Their color can range in color tones from beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows to bright blues, lavenders, and browns.

These fish is moderately sized cichlid from Lake Tanganyika, Africa. the males can reach just over 5 inches (13.5 cm) in length, with females a bit smaller. It is often simply referred to by its scientific name Callochromis Macrops. But other common names used for it include Large-Eyed Mouthbrooder, Big Eye Mouthbrooder, Southern Large-Eyed Muzzle Cichlid, and Southern Bigeye-Mouthbrooder. etc.

Each location in the lake has a different color variation, so these cichlids are also named for regions of the Lake where they are found. Some of these that are occasionally seen include Callochromis Macrops "Ndole Bay" or "Ndole Bay Red", Callochromis Macrops "Moliro" or "Red", Callochromis Macrops "Kasanga", and others such as "Tanzania", "Isanga", "Kafungi", "Kantalamba", "Katoto", and "Namansi".

These fish is popular because of its compact size and color, this cichlid is also easy to moderate to care for as long as regular water changes are done. Provide them with a sandy or fine gravel substrate along with lots of rock formations and plants. This fish will breed in captivity, and the plants will provide cover for the the females and newly hatch fry.

This is a very beautiful sand dwelling cichlid, but it is also more aggressive. It can be kept with featherfins and other sand cichlid species, but will not get along well with conspecifics. It should be kept singly or in groups in a larger aquarium. They are actually only mildly aggressive to other fish that do not have a similar size or shape.

It is much easier to tell the difference between male and female with this species than it is with other Lake Tanganyikan cichlids. The females are typically smaller and silver, making it easier to obtain a balanced group of one male and several females. Males of the "red" variety are very nicely marked adding a nice contrasting color to the tank. Tank raised males seem less aggressive toward females. Do not house more than one male. It is important to keep conspecific varieties and similar species separate as they will hybridize freely.

Tank Setup :  The Tank 48″ x 18″ x 18″ (120cm x 45cm x 45cm) – 240 litres in size could house a small group of these, consisting of a male and a harem of three or more females. A much bigger tank would be needed if you want to keep several males together.

  Temperature  23-27 degrees celsius

  • pH Level:7.8-9.0
  • General Hardness:Hard
Range: Africa: Lake Tanganyika
Feeding: These fish are Carnivorous can eat many type of foods
Reproduction: These fish are mouthbrooder, The males construct a sand crater and try to attract passing females. The female may carry the brood of 25-60 eggs for up to 3 weeks before releasing the free swimming fry. She will not eat during this period and can be easily spotted by her distended mouth. If a female is overly stressed she may spit out the brood prematurely or eat them, so care must be taken if you decide to move the fish in order to avoid fry predation. It is also worth noting that if a female is away from the colony for too long she may lose her position in the pecking order of the group. It’s best to wait as long as possible before moving a female unless she is being harassed.

The fry may still have some yolk sac remaining when they are released and do not need to be fed until this has disappeared. If they are released with no yolk sacs you can start to feed immediately. They are large enough to take baby brine shrimp from birth.

Fish Data : Tiger Shovelnose

Origin:          Brazil, Amazon River Basin, Argentina, Peru & Venezuela

Durability:      Very hardy, easy keepers, must have adequate space to swim.
Tank Setup:  Water temperature:     72-82°f, 23-28°c
Water quality PH:        6.5-7.8, mine do well in the 6.6-6.8 range.
Water quality, NO³:      Nitrate level, below 200 PPM, try for under 100 PPM.
Water quality NH³:       Ammonia, up to .5 PPM sustained but best at zero.
Tank size minimum:    180 gallon or larger aquarium, 72" by 24" by 24" tall.
Ted's aquarium is:       A heated 2,400 gallon outdoor tank, 12' by 8' by 4' high,

The Tiger Shovelnose Cat, which is also known as the Tiger Catfish, is from the rivers and tributaries of South America. It is a large catfish that can attain a length of over 3 feet in captivity. The body of this cat is long and slender and has a beautiful silver coloration. Black stripes and spots cover the entire body, giving this fish a tiger-like appearance. The mouth is adorned with very long whiskers, and is long and flat in shape.

This fish can grow impressively large in an aquarium setting and should be given plenty of room to swim. Due to its size and high energy this fish should be kept with larger tank mates. Besides the minimum tank size of 180 gallons, rocks, plants, and large driftwood should be used to enhance and simulate a natural environment. Since the Tiger Shovelnose Catfish is a highly active fish, a tightly covered aquarium should be used to prevent it from jumping out of the tank.A Tiger Shovelnose Catfish aquarium tank should have good filtration since these fishes are sensitive to poor water quality. It is also beneficial to make two water changes each week to reduce the stress on the water.

This fish is Canivorus , Like to eat small live in the water , You can feed them with many various of food , Like Shirmp , Small Fish , Insect , Worm ,Blood Worm etc.
